Free taster · About an hour

Create your first life vision, today.

This taster gives you the heart of the full course: a first draft of your life vision and your first Next Version of Me exercise. No signup, no email address. Just you, something to write with, and an hour.

First, how your brain actually works

Your brain was born with a vision for your life: alive, safe, minimal effort, simple pleasures. It's your default setting, and it's the same as every other sentient animal. It's why the sofa wins, why doom-scrolling happens, and why fixing problems never quite feels like progress.

But you have something animals don't: you can imagine the future. And when you imagine something vividly, your brain processes it using the same neural pathways as if it were really happening. Athletes use this deliberately. So do you, in reverse, every time you ruminate…you are mentally rehearsing your fears, with full emotion, on repeat, and teaching your brain to expect them.

Do you want your brain to find more of what you don't want? No? Then give it something better to look for.

Your three steps

Step 1 · Think · 10 minutes

Ask yourself three questions

  1. What do I want to BE in 5 years' time? (attributes and values)
  2. What do I want to DO in 5 years' time? (activities, habits, skills)
  3. What do I want to HAVE in 5 years' time? (tangible and intangible)

Notice these are all about what you want. Not what you don't want, not what you should want, not what anyone else wants for you. And "have" includes what doesn't photograph well…peace, confidence, boundaries, energy. Put those next to the tangible things. They belong there.

Step 2 · Write · 15 minutes

Write for 5 minutes on each question

Write without judgement, whatever comes to mind. If you get stuck, ask "What else?" or "What would childhood me say?" or "What would older me say?"

Step 3 · Imagine · 5 minutes

The Next Version of Me exercise

Reread everything you wrote. Sit with those words. Then close your eyes and imagine, for 5 minutes, being who you want to be, doing what you want to do, having what you want to have.

Make it vivid and detailed. Use all your senses. Feel the emotions. Play it like a movie trailer, flicking between seeing yourself with everything you want and experiencing it as yourself.

When you're done, give your Next Version of Me a score out of 10 and write it down. Then repeat the exercise once more today.
Optional · Write a letter

Write to your Next Version of Me

While it's all fresh, write a short letter to the you of one year from now. Tell them what you've just seen, what you're starting, and what you expect them to be living. Seal it with a date, or use a future-delivery app like FutureMe, and don't open it early.

Why? Because it turns a daydream into a commitment between two versions of you. And notice who you addressed it to…not a fantasy stranger, the next version of you. That's the point.

What just happened

You gave your brain a destination. You made that future a little more familiar and a little less scary, and your brain quietly starts reorganising your attention and choices around what feels familiar. Part of your brain filters what you notice based on what it believes matters to you…so as your Next Version of Me becomes familiar, you start spotting the people, opportunities and next steps that fit that person. Repeat it daily and you're training your brain to look for, and recognise, what you want in your life. That's the same repetition that built your worries. Now it's working for you.

One more thing. This works because the vision is yours, in your own words, including the unphotographable parts…peace, confidence, boundaries. If you'd copied it from someone else's board, your brain would file it under "someone else's life" and ignore it. Don't borrow a vision. Become yours.

The next step

One exercise is a start. Seven days is a change.

The full course deepens your vision with the money, time and energy questions, teaches you the three brain hacks properly, shows you how you've been using them against yourself, and ends with your first 3-month goal…decided and started, not just dreamed about.
